Worship with me #30 – In the Overwhelm

Hi, friends!  Welcome to Worship with me #30!

I have been SO stressed lately with all the extra trips I’ve had to make to my mom’s house to talk with the visiting nurses and physical therapists, etc., that this is the second week that I thought about not writing this post.

But even in our most stressful times, we need to worship God, and He comes along and reminds us that He wants to help us carry our burdens!  So please join me in this prayer of worship, even if, and especially if, you are in a stressful season of your own!  🙂

Dear Lord,  I thank You that when Jesus was here on this earth living in overwhelming situations on a daily basis, surrounded by crowds that demanded His attention, He knew where to go to find peace!  And He shared His knowledge with us:

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Lord, when we get in the middle of stressful situations, sometimes it feels like we have been singing in the choir, and suddenly the drums get SO LOUD that we can’t even hear ourselves singing anymore.  We get so focused on the drums that our ability to focus on the music fades, and we forget to rejoice in You and recognize that You are in control, and that You still have the music playing even if we can’t hear it very well anymore, and even if we have stopped singing along with it.

Help us to concentrate harder on the music and sing along as best we can.

Please forgive us for worrying and forgetting to put our trust in You like we should.

Lord God, You are the King over all!  You are Sovereign and All-Powerful!  You are faithful and worthy of our trust! And You love us perfectly and WANT to help us.

Sometimes You are just waiting for us to admit our need and ask for Your help.

Today we admit our need.  We need You, Lord!  We need Your help for today!  Help us to focus on You today and to put tomorrow in Your strong hands.  We barely have the strength and the energy to take care of what is on our plate today.  We certainly do not have any extra energy left over to spend on the useless activity of worrying.

Thank You that You care about all the things that are going on in my life; You care that I just can’t do it all.  And You have told us to cast all our cares on You, for You care for us.

Lord God, our King, our help in times of trouble, please help us and hold us and give us peace as things swirl around us. Carry us when we can’t walk anymore. Hold our hands in the darkness, and keep us from stumbling and falling. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and renew our strength. Surround us with Your loving Presence. Help us to hear Your music.

LORD, You reign; let the earth rejoice! Help us to let You reign in our lives, so we will be able to rejoice as well.  May Your kingdom come and Your will be done in our hearts, circumstances, and schedules as it is in Heaven. Deliver us from evil.

For Yours is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory today, tomorrow, and forever and ever!

Amen!

  2. 🙏🏻 for you and your mom. Remember to live in the present…it’s a gift from God. “Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.”-Alice Morse Earle

  3. Lord, thank you for maintaining control even when we tried to take over. Thank you for reminding us that “all things come together for good for those who are called according to his purpose.” Thank you for working behind the scenes so that we don’t step in and mess things up. Thank you for handling our hardest times start to finish. Your only requirement is that we stand still.

    1. Yes, Michele! What’s even more concerning to me is the being distracted from Him in the walk of every day, which should ALSO be a service of worship. The worries and anxiety or even irritability can be like the drums, so loud in our own heads, even though no one around us can hear them. And so, we must come before Him and cast all our cares on Him, for He cares for us.
