Mix It Up!

Have you ever noticed how a little variety in life keeps things, even routines, from getting boring?  Sometimes even meal planning can get so routine that we get tired of eating the same thing again and again.

The other day my daughter and I were driving to the store to get candy for our church’s “Trunk or Treat” event.  I also told her that I wanted to buy a card for someone, and I suggested we get something to eat while we were there.

After deciding that chicken sounded good, she started saying “candy, card, chicken, candy, card, chicken” over and over so we would not forget by the time we got there.

An idea was born!  I said, “Hey!  Why don’t we get only things for lunch today that start with the letter “C”!  So that led to great contemplation of what foods that started with a “C” sounded good.

We ended up having chicken, chips, carrots, cauliflower, and cider.  It was so fun!

For some reason I was thinking of having a meal starting with “H” next.  I know, I know, we’re going out of order!  But we didn’t start with “A”, so why start there now?  LOL

We could do  Hormel chili or tamales, honey roasted peanuts, and hazelnut brownines, and hot chocolate!  Hmmm….  🙂

God has been so good to us to give us variety in life from which to choose!

Let’s be thankful and rejoice today!

Enjoy!

What letter would you choose, and what foods that begin with that letter, if you were to try this exercise in mixing things up just for fun?  I’d love to hear your answers in the comments section below!

  1. I love this idea! We often play “Alphabet Groceries” in the car and come up with some crazy things. At times when I say grace before a meal I do thank God for the great variety of food he gives us to choose from. Just think- He didn’t have to do that. 🤷🏻‍♀️ What an underrated gift!

Your game sounds like a fun way to mix it up with the kids. I may have to try this! 😁
