Here we are again, bowing before You, recognizing that You are more huge than we can ever conceive, that You are truly righteous, and that you keep your eye on us as an act of love. We praise You that You choose to look at us through the blood of Christ’s sacrifice and declare us holy who have trusted you to save us from our sin and its consequences.
And yet, so often we must disappoint You by hoarding this good news for ourselves and then by trying to sit as judges of those who need You instead of making an effort to lovingly lead them to You who alone can save and truly satisfy.
Lord, You are the King of kings and Lord of lords!
And sometimes we question why You, the King, allow so many bad things to happen. We doubt Your love and power, thereby setting ourselves up as judges, even of You! Sorry, Lord.
And all the while, as we see the sin in others but not so much in ourselves, You keep looking down at us with love!
And You remind us that judgement of God and man is not our job.
You remind us that our job is to love You and to love others and pray for them.
You remind us that You are patient with us and with others, “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
And You remind us that it’s our job to control ourselves, not to control You, perish the thought!
Lord, please forgive us for getting this all so messed up in our minds and hearts. Please cleanse us and remind us to pray for those who upset us.
Lord Jesus, could it be that maybe if we, Your church, would pray to You seriously that Your kingdom come in the lives of those who upset us, that You might just answer that prayer? Forgive us, please, Lord for our sin of prayerlessness, and may Your kingdom come and Your will be done in our lives, too, as it is in Heaven.
Our Heavenly Father, Your name is Holy. Help us daily to remember that and to treat You with the reverence that You deserve.
We truly ask that Your kingdom come daily and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
And please deliver us from the evil one; for YOURS is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever!
