God’s “Just-Because” Surprises

 

One super, freezing cold morning, a number of years ago,when everybody else was staying indoors as much as possible, I put on double, triple and even quadruple layers of warm, winter clothing and went for a walk around the track at the local college.

Needless to say, I was the only one walking the track that morning.

I was in the midst of a discouraging time in life, and the Lord knew that I needed a bit of encouragement.

The sky was a steely gray as I walked with a rapid pace on the lonely track. I had walked long enough with the scarves wrapped around my face to build up invisible drops of condensation right in front of my eyes.

Then, just as I rounded the bend and was facing east, the morning sun peeked out momentarily and did a sudden surprise reveal; He turned all those droplets in front of my eyes into tiny rainbows!

What an amazing gift of grace!  I was so happy and excited!  The situation had not changed, but God had reminded me of His own special love for me!

The Lord knows what will cheer us up, and that day so long ago, he met me in my need with His special surprise just for me! Just because!

He loves each of His children that much!

Sister, brother, keep on walking through the dark, cold, dreary days, but be sure to look up at the Son!  At just the right time, He will break through the gloom and remind you of how much He loves you.

Don’t give up. If you do, you might miss that special “just-because” surprise that’s around the next bend.
