Pray for our country

Just a reminder for those of you who live in the USA that today is the #National Day of Prayer. Won’t you join millions of Americans who will be praying today for our country?

  • For its spiritual welfare,
  • For its churches and pastors,
  • For its financial welfare,
  • For its businesses,
  • For its unemployed,
  • For people who are feeling hopeless,
  • For those who are depressed,
  • For the lost in need of a Savior,
  • For its leaders,
  • For justice and truth to be upheld,
  • For evil to be overcome.

Of course, if you live in another country, you can pray these things for your country, as well!

Revival can still happen if God’s people pray:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Let’s pray big prayers today for our respective countries and expect big answers from our Great God! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  1. I heard a message once (I’m sorry, I don’t remember whose.) about Abraham’s prayers for the evil city Sodom. He asked the LORD if He would spare the city if there were 50 righteous people in it, and God said “yes.” Abraham kept asking, lowering the number, until he didn’t dare ask any more. This speaker had done the math, considering what the population of Sodom was, and calculated what percentage of Sodom’s population it was that would have saved the city if they had been righteous. He then figured out what that percentage would be in 21st-century America. He concluded that if there were a million righteous people in America, that God may spare us yet… Not sure he was right, but I thought it was an interesting theory, and it makes me wonder, would I be one of the million?

    1. Thank you for sharing this. I suppose it’s possible, but I see a few problems with that theory: a. Sodom was a city, not a nation. b. The proposed punishment was total annihilation, and c. I believe God calculates the value of life per life, not in percentages. Also, when Jonah was angry that the Lord did not bring judgment on Ninevah God gave the number of souls there as over 120,000 that he spared because they spent time in fasting and repentance. Sometimes we want to figure out that which only God can know. The important thing is that we each examine ourselves and make sure we are ready and living for Him.

  2. Thank you for sharing. We need to join the nation in prayer at noon today…or all day long would be better. We have a lot of problems in this country, but we can still say that we are a blessed nation. Pray for God to work here!
