Thursday night my husband and I took part in a wedding rehearsal and the dinner that followed. We are friends of the groom and his mom, and the groom asked my husband to do the lights and sound for them.
Everything went well, and at the dinner, the groom held up a Bible that they got just for this special occasion. He announced that they would like each person there to highlight his/her favorite verse and write his/her name in the margin next to their favorite verse so they can pray for us as they move into married life together. Isn’t that a great idea?!
I have never heard of anyone doing this before. Have any of you seen this done?
What a wonderful way to start off (and continue through) a marriage! They say a family that prays together stays together, and I’m inclined to agree. I’ve discovered that there is a spiritual bond that happens between people who pray together, a bond that cannot be had any other way.
Have a blessed day, friends! 😊

P.S. We went to the wedding today, and it was beautiful!
That is so cool!

This is a great idea. I think I will share my favorite verse with my husband tonight. I feel like we should already have had this conversation but there’s no time like the present to get started.

I’ve been to a couple of weddings where this was done. I was wishing they had given us advance notice so we could think about what verses we’d pick. I was standing there for a while, mired in indecision. (#ridiculouslyobsessive)

“mired in indecision. (#ridiculouslyobsessive)” lol, Anne! 😀
I have numerous close-runner-up favorite verses. But my favorite for the longest period of time is “for He has said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5 He has been with me on each continent I’ve visited, and in each country, and on each waterway, and in each airplane….

I’m afraid I don’t have a favorite verse – or too many of them. Genesis is my favorite OT book, Acts my favorite NT book. Isaiah 53 my favorite OT chapter, Romans 8 my favorite NT chapter. But VERSE …

Hmm, Isaiah 53 isn’t that long. Only twelve verses. And if you have a favorite PART of that chapter…hey, it doesn’t HAVE to be just one verse! 😁

I love this! Although no marriage is perfect, what helped us along the journey of marriage was applying practical bible principles as mentioned at Ephesians 5:28, 29, 33 it shows how husbands and wives are to lovingly interact with each other. I hope this touches your heart as it did ours! Thanks for sharing!!
