Sunshine Blogger Award #2

First of all, I’d like to thank Alicia from “For His Purpose” for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I always enjoy reading your blog!

Be sure to check out Alicia’s blog if you haven’t already. She is a great writer, and her story is very relatable!

She and I both share a love for the mountains and the beach, and more importantly, for the Lord and for serving and helping others to know Him too!

About the Sunshine award:

This award is given to creative, positive and cheerful bloggers by other bloggers as a token of appreciation and admiration.

Here are the rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link back to him/her.
  • Answer the 11 questions provided by the blogger who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 new questions.
  • Notify the nominees by commenting on one of their blog posts.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo on your post.

I’ll answer the questions Alicia had for me first:

1) Why do you write?

I started writing years ago, sometimes just to record what was happening, sometimes because a Scripture spoke to my heart, sometimes because a poetic inspiration suddenly came upon me. I did write a few letters to encourage others, but most of my writings just sat unread in notebooks and journals. I felt God wanted me to share them with others. To my surprise, He kept giving me new inspiration, and I hope that the new material is also an encouragement to you all!

2) Who do you admire and why? (sorry I know I’m sneaking two questions)

I admire a couple of elderly, godly prayer warriors, Dawn and Carol, for their extreme love for the Lord, for their great, unshakeable faith, for their transparency, and for their compassion.

3) What has been your best vacation?

I don’t know; I loved the beaches in Puerto Rico and the mountains on the east and west coasts of the US. But I love any vacation where I get to have meaningful conversations with family and friends, and that is too many to count!

4) Where would you love to visit one day?

Maybe Ireland. It looks so green in pictures and the ocean is not too far away.

5) Why is your best friend, your best friend?

My best friend is literally Jesus. He’s just the best! No one can compare with Him. He’s always been there for me when others were too busy or otherwise unavailable. I always know He’s listening when I talk to Him. He’s never too busy.

6) What is your biggest concern (about anything)?

That my loved ones who don’t know the Lord will never come to know Him.

7) When did you last owe someone an apology?

Yesterday, I think. I like to keep short accounts and get my apologies said quickly so they’re not hanging over my head. I find that not being forgiven is stressful.

8) What’s the best movie you’ve ever watched?

“War Room”

9) What’s your most favorite childhood memory?

The joys of going to Bible Camp each summer

10) What do you love most about yourself? I don’t know, maybe my love for music and my affinity for other languages and cultures.

11) If you could ask Jesus a question what would it be?

How long before we get to see you?

And here are my 11 questions for those I’ve nominated:

  1. Who has most poured into you the things that make you who you are today?
  2. What events in your life, either negative or positive, have helped you become a better version of yourself?
  3. Favorite weather?
  4. Favorite color?
  5. Where do you go to rest and be refreshed?
  6. Do you prefer the country or the big city, and why?
  7. Can you give us a brief testimony of how you came to know the Lord?
  8. What is your favorite food?
  9. Have you ever had a friend or family with a food allergy, and what did you learn from it?
  10. Have you ever traveled out of your country?
  11. What do you view as the most important message to help humanity?

    1. You’re welcome, Eileen! It’s okay; I understand! I just read your blog post this morning after I had already published this. When God leads us in a new direction, we must follow! Maybe some day He’ll give you the okay to get back to your blog, but in the meantime, may He bless you with great success as you follow His direction! I’ll be happy, as always, to meet with you here on my blog and break the Bread of His Word together!

  1. Hi Ruth,
Thank you for the nomination. I saw someone answer the questions right away and I’m trying this now, since with all that’s happening, I may never get around in time. Here goes.
Who has most poured into you the things that make you who you are today? I wish I had a human to give this credit, oh well lol. Holy Spirit! He’s been the one guiding, leading and pouring into me.
What events in your life, either negative or positive, have helped you become a better version of yourself? I can’t pinpoint all the reasons but two jumps out to mind, one specific and the other general. General – trials! They crush and press and cause me to become who God designed me to be. Specific – the role of being a mom since I was 14.
Favorite weather? Tie between Spring and Autumn
    Favorite color?
Where do you go to rest and be refreshed? My journal. It’s a journey to Abba
Do you prefer the country or the big city, and why? Country – any day, all day. It’s calming and I feel closer to God there.
Can you give us a brief testimony of how you came to know the Lord? Can’t pinpoint any one event just now. I was born and raised in the church (and yes, still became a teenage mom). Conversion of the heart for me was over a series of trials
What is your favorite food? Don’t know if I have a favorite – I’d get tired of eating the same thing over and over and over again.
Have you ever had a friend or family with a food allergy, and what did you learn from it? Yes, to be sensitive to their needs
Have you ever traveled out of your country? Yes, I was born and raised in the beautiful island of Jamaica. Voila, here I am in the US
What do you view as the most important message to help humanity? Jesus saves, keeps and satisfies!

    1. Praise God that His Holy Spirit has poured into you so freely, Deandra! To Him be the glory!
For sure, a healthy attitude toward trials and “momming” will help us to grow! And if those led to your conversion, then they were even more freeing! I agree about the country!
I think you’re right about getting tired of eating the same thing all the time. Maybe that’s why my favorite is my favorite, because I don’t get to eat it often! I love variety in numerous things.
Jamaica! I’ve met people from there before, and they were wonderful people! Maybe I should put Jamaica on my mental list of places to visit!
      Great message!
Thanks for allowing me (and whoever reads these responses) to know you a little better!
      God bless!

      1. Awwww! Thanks for asking and getting the brain into gear, Ruth.

Praise God indeed. I cannot imagine life without Holy Spirit. He’s so wonderful! Words fail when it comes to expressing my love.

Thanks for being okay with my response here, and for thinking about adding Jamaica to that list, if you do move past thinking and actually planning and then doing, I’m sure you will have a good time. At least, it is my prayer that you will.

I’m so happy to get to know you a little better too. I believe through the love of Jesus, we are all connected in some way, shape or form. ❤️❤️

    1. You’re welcome, Ifeoma! You have a lot of good content on your blog. It would be great if more people would check it out!
I love nature and the country also! I looked up harmattan, and there was a video of a dust storm. Why do you like harmattan? Is it because of cooler termperatures? Because I can’t imagine anyone actually loving all that dust! 😀
That is so cool about your grandpa keeping a journal! I wonder if that also affected you with a dream of someday becoming a writer?

  3. It’s the cold that comes with it😂😂😂

I think so. He had a flare for writing during his personal study time. I watched that from a distance but when he passed on I became curious to know what he had been writing

    Hugs and thanks once again
