Scripture Prayer #8

Welcome to Scripture Prayers, #8 in this series! Do you ever have those times when you just don’t know what to pray? Scriptures are full of prayers and promises from God that He wants us to believe and claim! First, I’ll write the Scripture; then, I’ll write the prayer just below it.

Psalm 28 NASB

“To You, O LORD, I call;
My rock, do not be deaf to me,
For if You are silent to me,
I will become like those who go down to the pit.

2Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry to You for help,
When I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary.

3Do not drag me away with the wicked
And with those who work iniquity,
Who speak peace with their neighbors,
While evil is in their hearts.

4Requite them according to their work and according to the evil of their practices;
Requite them according to the deeds of their hands;
Repay them their recompense.

5Because they do not regard the works of the LORD
Nor the deeds of His hands,
He will tear them down and not build them up.

6Blessed be the LORD,
Because He has heard the voice of my supplication.

7The LORD is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart exults,
And with my song I shall thank Him.

8The LORD is their strength,
And He is a saving defense to His anointed.

9Save Your people and bless Your inheritance;
Be their shepherd also, and carry them forever.”

Oh Lord, I call to you because You are my Rock. If You don’t listen to me and help me, I’m as good as dead.

Please hear my voice when I cry to you for help. I lift my hands toward You in Your holy, heavenly sanctuary, acknowledging that You are immeasurably bigger and stronger than me and that I trust You that You care. Lord, I believe that You stoop down to pick me up, to heal me, and to help me.

Lord, there is so much evil around us, both in the invisible and visible realms. Deceitful lips speak peace while hatred and evil schemes are in their hearts.

I pray that they will repent and turn to You for mercy. But if they continue refuse You and Your offer of grace, please do not punish the innocent with the wicked, with those who refuse to recognize Your greatness and powerful works and who rebel against Your command to walk in obedience to You!

I praise You, Lord, for You have heard my prayer! You will not only give me strength; You ARE my strength! I trust You, and You come through for me. My heart sings praises to you with joy, for You are my loving, faithful, good God, my Deliverer in times of trouble.

You are the strength of Your people, our Defender.

You are our Shepherd! Please carry us close to Your heart forever!

Amen!
