Do you ever wake up in the morning with every hair perfectly in place? No? Neither do I! 😁 Or maybe you are one of those who are blessed to wake up with gorgeous hair.
This morning I woke up and was a bit startled when I looked in the mirror!
One side of my hair looked pretty good; it just needing a gentle brushing.
But the OTHER side!
Hoo boy! 😜
It was sticking out every which way, making me look like I was preparing to dress up like a clown! 😂
Praise God for electricity and curling irons! That side of my hair was a piece of work! It was not going to comply without being pressed into submission!
This reminds me of how we can be so divided in our walk with God. We surrender ONE side of our life to Him, but the other side we want to control. We do not want to submit THAT part of our life to Him, and we don’t even realize how ridiculous that makes us “look” until we look in the mirror of God’s word.
At that point we have a choice.
- Will we walk away and forget about what we just saw in the mirror?
- Or will we avail ourselves of the power of God and the power of the blood of Jesus to press our will into submission and bring back order to our WHOLE life?
Today, I am thankful for hairbrushes, picks, curling irons, and hair spray, items that bring hair back to order and help it stay there.
I’m also thankful for the power of God that brings order to our lives when we submit ourselves to Him.
22“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror
24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
25But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.” James 1:22-25 NIV
