Being a caretaker is hard. I discovered that during the four years that I checked in on my parents while they still lived in their own home.
It takes time and zaps energy. Someone has to accompany them to doctors visits or no one will know what the doctor said. I’ll let you figure that one out. Bills go overdue when they never did before.
Dust bunnies move in to a formerly clean abode. Things get lost and refound over and over again. Someone has to load their medicines in little boxes with the days on them then call to remind them what day it is.
It’s one of those things that you can’t imagine would be so hard until you’re doing it.
My parents eventually got to the point where we were told they needed 24-hour care. That was over a year ago.
Today I’m thankful for my sister and her family who invited my parents to live with them so they won’t have to go into a nursing home.
It’s been 11 months now, and it’s not been easy, but they’re making it work.
Would you help me pray for God’s continued help for them?
Thank You, Lord, for enabling my sister and her family to welcome our parents into their home. Please continue to help them and give them strength and grace. Bless them for taking on this difficult task. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
