Psalm 90:14 ESV

“Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.” NIV
O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. KJV

God’s love in Hebrew is hesed.
As you can see in the different translations above, it is a word that cannot be fully translated by only one word.
Hesed is covenant love, love that lasts forever even though offended or betrayed.
Hesed is not a noun.
It is a verb.
It is love that works toward restoration, shows mercy and undeserved kindness, and shows generosity and favor.
It comes to the rescue of the one who is loved, even if the one loved does not deserve it.
This is my God.
He initiated a relationship with us that we did not deserve through the sacrifice of His Son on the cross. He made this love relationship available to anyone who will put their trust in Him!
He came in search of us!
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 NKJV
He lavished His love on us!
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us.” Ephesians 1:7,8a NASB
Today I am thankful and rejoice that God has hesed love for us. I’m thankful that He cut a new covenant through His own blood so that He could come to the rescue of all who would believe. I’m thankful that He is faithful even when we are not, and that His mercy endures forever.
This is, indeed, reason for great rejoicing!
