It’s been 56 days since God laid it on my heart to start writing about what I’m thankful for every day. Where does the time go? For a while I was feeling the joy that comes with having a grateful heart!… until I wasn’t again.
The last few days I’ve not been feeling well. I’ve been having some dull headaches with brain fog and lack of concentration. This does not just cause me to forget to be thankful; I also start forgetting other things. Um, …what was I saying again? Lol 😀
So, I’ve been having to ask the Lord to help me think of what I should be thankful for each day, and He has answered, as He promises He will do!
Today He highlighted our dog, Lilly, begging again and again, never satisfied with what she’s been given. As I explained here, it doesn’t matter how many times we feed her (official feeding is twice a day plus treats), she always wants more! I wonder, if we actually gave her all the food she wanted, how fast would she end up getting sick?
But, as my daughter pointed out, we do the same thing to God.
He gives and gives and gives in His grace. And instead of being grateful and resting at His feet in contentment, we keep on wanting more and more and more.
So, yes, I’ve had a few headaches, but God’s grace is sufficient for me!
So, I’ve had brain fog and poor concentration and forgotten a few things. But His grace is sufficient for me!!
“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV
God doesn’t mind me asking for help again, but He doesn’t want me to have a complaining attitude that comes from forgetting all the things He has graciously given me already. He wants me to be thankful for what He has given, which is A LOT!!
When I am weak, He empowers me, and He gets the glory instead of me, and that’s the way it should be! After all,
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 NIV
There is no gift that I have that comes from myself; all come from Him!
So today, I’m thankful for the lessons that God is teaching me using our dog, Lilly. Today I’m thankful that His grace is sufficient, and that I always have plenty to be thankful for, even when I’m weak or not feeling well.
God is so good to us!
He deserves all our praise and thanks!
I love dogs 🙂

Yes, it just takes taking our eyes off our reactions to the pain and focusing on Jesus, who gave Himself for us, instead! 😊
