Day 57 – Thankful that the Lamb will overcome!

“These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings.” Revelation 17:14a

There is so much darkness in the world today. I’ve all but stopped watching the news, and even the news that comes into my inbox, some days, I just can’t read it. Some days I just don’t need that one more reminder of everything going awry, of chaos, of disorder, and worse.

When I do read the news, it is with a prayer that God will intervene and do something to make it better or fix it or change it.

The enemy of God seems to be strong right now, but so was Goliath, and he was toppled by one smooth, well-aimed stone!

The good news is that Jesus is stronger than any giant that seems unbeatable! He can defeat these giants in the here and now or in the near future! But even if He chooses to wait, we see in Scripture that in the end, He will conquer the enemy!

Just as surely as young David brought down the giant Goliath with a stone, by the power of God, even so, Jesus will conquer the enemy!

Jesus is the Lamb, but He is also the stone which the builders rejected. (Matthew 21:42-44)(See also: Daniel 2:34,35,44,45) Jesus wins!

Today I am thankful that Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, will overcome evil and darkness! He will overcome war and death and all the rest of the chaos of this world!

What about you? Do you find watching the news depressing? Do you ever pray about the situations that you hear about? Do you believe that God cares about them? Are you excited about the idea that one day Jesus will put a stop to all the bad news?

    1. I like the way you put that, Brittany! There’s only so much one person can do! When you’ve already got too many things going on, stay in the lane God told you to drive in! 😄
We can’t fix everybody and everything. Sometimes we can’t even fix ourselves. But God can do the impossible to the nth degree! I’m so glad we have a voice with Him through Christ!

  1. I also rarely watch news. If I do, I also spend the time praying. God has great plans for us and I prefer to demand His will be done on earth as it is in heaven and choose not to let my heart be troubled or anxious. This doesn’t mean I’m totally oblivious to what’s going on, but I don’t want to get into vain arguments. Wise as serpents, harmless as doves?
