I love all of my children. The youngest is 16, and none of them are really “children” anymore. I’ve invested a lot of time in their lives, but all but the youngest two have moved on with their own lives; that’s the way it should be.
I’ve spent a lot of time with my youngest daughter this last few months, since she is the last one that is at home all the time and since she requested that I home school her this year. This has been a blessing in many ways, one of which is that there is so much more flexibility with her illness and doctors’ visits and such.
For those of you who are new here or have been away for a while, my daughter has been diagnosed recently with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Type III. And, I am homeschooling her as a satellite school to the Christian school she attended for years, so she still sees some of her friends when I take her to test or do Spanish on campus.
Today was the PTO Pizza bash for the last day of school before Christmas break. I took her and her brother, who just returned from his first semester at university yesterday to participate and spend some time with their friends (those who are still there.)
A little later in the day, my son helped me make a grocery list and go grocery shopping. Yes, he actually likes to do that because he likes to cook, and shopping helps him make sure that he has all the ingredients that he is going to need!
So, this evening the two of us worked together as a team to make a chicken stew that he found a recipe for that he thought would be good. I’m so glad he was helping, because I started losing steam before the meal was ready, and he did all the finishing touches by himself!
Oh, and in case you were wondering, the stew was delicious! 🙂
Today I’m thankful for my children, for the time we are able to spend together, and for a son in premed that still likes to help his mom grocery shop and cook a delicious meal!
We are so blessed to be together! Glory to God!
How about you? What things do you like to do with your family? Are you thankful for your family?

It surely is! We’re enjoying having him home from college for Christmas break. He was so helpful yesterday morning getting food ready for the noon meal that I hardly had to do anything! Yes!!!
I am very thankful for that! 🙂
