Ever since I can remember, I’ve wanted to discover things on my own. When I was a child, I took apart 2 music boxes to see how they worked, and maybe a windup clock as well.
If someone tells me something, please take no personal offense that I need to check it out for myself. That’s just the way I am.
So, suffice it to say, that God knew I would need my own copy of the Bible, too.
When I was 13 years old, I was at Bible camp. A whole group of us girls were standing around the recreation hall listening to the preacher give a devotion. I can still remember where the sun was in the sky.
The preacher was talking about how we need to read the scriptures for ourselves. That is the first time that I just knew that God was talking to me, not out loud, but in my heart. I started reading my Bible daily in obedience to Him that very week and kept it up for years.
I’ve had some stop and start overs in my adult life, but over time I’ve come to love the word of God so much that the idea of reading and studying it is a joy, and I miss it when I don’t read it.
Today I’m thankful that God has given me my own copy of His precious Word so I can check things out for myself!
Some people don’t have that privilege, and I realize that I am so blessed!
What about you? Do you have your own copy of God’s Word? How have you been doing at reading it and studying it? Have you come to the place where you find joy in reading it? Don’t give up. Keep digging for the treasure that is there waiting to be discovered!

We are so blessed in the USA to be able to have the Bible in various translations in book form and also online. We have brothers and sisters in places that the Bible is banned and they even risk death if found with one.

Probably my fault for using Darlin’. ☺ My Nana used to say, “Hey, Darlin’!” whenever we would walk into the room. ❤

Then how about you call me Ms. Ruth, then. You’ll be respectful, and it won’t make me feel old.

I have more than one copy of the Bible, my favorite one is an NIV. It is falling apart, however the verses I have highlighted is something I have cherished. ❤

Yes, I have more than one, also. I used an NIV for quite a while. But I received a Giant Print NASB and have been using it for a few years now. It is showing signs of being well- loved but is not falling apart yet.

A wonderful thing to be thankful for! I made a commitment, and have been blessed to have been able to go through the entire Bible, Genesis to Revelation for 10+ years now. God’s word is a wonder, I never get tired of learning something new! God bless!

What a blessing to have spent all that time in His Word! Yes, it is a wonder, for He is wonderful! And yes, His word is alive and powerful, so it’s very possible to learn something new each time we sit down and read it! Thank you, and God bless you, as well!
