Most of you know that yesterday was Valentines Day. I suppose everybody who recognizes it has a different way of celebrating it. In my family growing up, the only thing we did to celebrate was whatever the school did. There was no celebration at home. So, as a young adult I didn’t celebrate it either.
I don’t think I ever did celebrate it, even after that, for a long time, except for sending cards with the kids to their school to give to their friends. That changed when I remarried.
My husband and I get each other cards, and we usually go out to eat at a restaurant. But we’ve had things going on, and he hasn’t been feeling so great, so this year we did cards and sweets. I made a simple supper. Then, after we ate, my daughter and I went out in the freezing cold and drove through at Dairy Queen and brought our sweet treats home to eat as a family. My husband didn’t want any ice cream, but he sat with us at the table, and we all spent a little sweet time together.
I don’t usually eat dairy. When I do, it’s just the occasional milk chocolate candy bar. But on very rare occasion, I will eat ice cream, and my favorite at Dairy Queen is the Peanut Buster Parfait. For those of you who have never been to Dairy Queen, this is served in a tall, transparent cup through which you can see the layers of hot fudge and peanuts and vanilla ice cream. I always ask them to only give me two layers of hot fudge instead of three.
That’s what I had yesterday evening, and it was delicious!!! What a perfect way to end the day!
Today I am thankful for vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, and peanuts.
I’m thankful for the person who dreamed up putting them all together in such a delicious concoction!
And I’m thankful that God blessed me to able to partake and enjoy this delicacy and time with my family yesterday!
What about you? Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day in one way or another? Do you like ice cream and hot fudge? What is your favorite dessert?
Now I want to go to Dairy Queen 🙂

My favorite dessert is cheesecake. Yesterday my husband picked me up at my sister’s house and we celebrated Valentine’s Day by going to Sweet Frog. It’s a frozen yogurt place that is owned by Christians and plays Christian songs while you eat. Lots of toppings! I had cheesecake yogurt with wet walnuts. 😋

I love the Peanut Buster Parfait! Dairy Queen is also one of our family treats. Simple times with family at home is always my favorite. Though you didn’t get to eat out, this sounded like the perfect celebration to me. I hope and pray your husband feels better soon. Blessings and love!

Yes, simple times with family are so much more relaxing than a crowded restaurant. We tend to go to the less crowded ones when we do go out to eat. We did enjoy our simple time of fellowship together yesterday!
Thank you for your best wishes for my husband’s health! 🤗
Blessings and love to you, as well!

Or maybe our new bodies will have the self control only to eat as much as they need! I sure do hope ice cream and hot fudge will be on the menu up there! 😁
