Day 120 – Thankful that Jesus satisfies and brings joy

“My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness,
And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.

When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches,

For You have been my help,
And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.

Psalm 63:5-7

A few days ago, I wrote about the delight I experienced eating a peanut buster parfait.

Sunday morning we read the above verses during morning worship. The words “My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness” caught my attention.

What is it that the psalmist was comparing to delicious food? Perhaps it would be better to say “Who” instead.

The answer is the LORD God!

He is the One who satisfies the soul of those who seek and find Him!

He is the One who brings true and lasting joy and delight to those who answer His loving call!

In His presence, that is, under His wings of protection, near to His loving heart, I have joy!

Today I’m thankful that God satisfies and brings joy to those who love Him!

I’m thankful that my soul can feast on Him every day and every moment of the day and find a continual source of delight!

What about you? Have you found the satisfaction in Jesus Christ that He offers those who put their trust in Him? Have you discovered in Jesus the true joy that lasts much longer than your favorite dessert?

Welcome to the conversation! I'd love to hear what you have to say about this!
