“The heavens are telling of the glory of God and their expanse is declaring the work of his hands. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.” Psalm 19:1,2 NASB
The heavens are telling us about God’s glory, are we listening?
What might they be saying? And how can it say that they are speaking when we do not hear the words with our ears?
Have you ever seen someone do sign language? They are speaking and understanding without hearing the words.
Are you reading this? You are understanding the words without hearing them.

Perhaps the heavens are saying:
- Look at how amazing we, the stars, are; can you imagine how amazing our Creator must be?
- Imagine the power of the One who is able to keep us in such perfect order! He is able to bring order to your life and help you, too!
- Look at how the Sun comes up and gives life on this Earth; imagine the One who provided it! He will provide all of your needs!
- Look at the beauty of the sunset; imagine the beauty of the Master Artist who painted it!
- Look at the stars and how they go on forever; the One who made them is eternal!
- Look at the immense expanse of the Dome of the heavens; God is that much greater than you, but He still loves you and sees you and hears you, even when you feel small, insignificant, unheard, and unseen.
Today I’m thankful for the stars, sunshine, sunsets, and all of these messages God can give us when we look at them and think about Him.
I’m thankful that our God is amazing, powerful, life-giving, and orderly!
I’m thankful that He provides for our needs and is ever-present!
I’m thankful that He always loves us, listens to us, and sees us even when we feel invisible!
What about you? Do you ever feel invisible? Does it make you feel small when you look at the greatness of the Milky Way? Does it help you recognize how great God is? What does it mean to you personally when you consider the above thoughts?
Have you ever been where birds and all manner of creatures are raucously praising God? The fields of grain make sounds, the woods are seldom quiet, waves crash and lap at the shore. I’ve heard it’s quite noisy in space! All Creation sings His praise! I can’t wait to get to Heaven where flowers sing and animals talk and we’ll truly join in the chorus with our Lord and King!

Birds, for sure! You’re right; the trees of the fields “clap their hands”! Yes, I was thinking about that when I was meditating on this passage this morning; it’s noisy in space, but we can’t hear it because we’re too far away.
Amen! I can’t wait to sing with all those who will be praising God in Heaven! Wouldn’t that be amazing if even the flowers sing and animals talk? Why not? I guess we’ll see (or hear) when we get there! 🙂

I look at and experience the amazing sights of His creations (animals, landscapes, sunrises and sunsets, the star filled night…) and honestly I really can’t help but think how do people not believe in an amazing Creator…I really don’t understand how a person could look at those things and still deny the existence of our Lord. Breaks my heart really but it keeps me aware and motivates me to pray for unbelievers daily!
Beautiful post Ruth, thanks for sharing!!

I don’t know, Alicia. I think a lot of people have swallowed the teaching that it all just happened, without thinking it through. I sat by a girl in biology class in high school that was so surprised when I told her I didn’t believe in evolution! It appeared that she had never even considered that there might be some fatal flaws in that theory. She just believed what she was taught.
I’ve heard the terminology “communing with nature”; I think a lot of people feel the amazing-ness of God in nature but attribute that feeling to nature instead of to God.
“How shall they believe on Him of Whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” Romans 10:14

Ahhh yes I’ve been pausing on that verse a lot lately! We are commissioned by God to step it up and take it out or the words of Matthew 24:14 aren’t going to fulfilled anytime soon…”And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”….That means we Christians have work to do and if we want to be good stewards we need to be following those directions!!

Yes, God did not save us to make us comfortable. He gave us a job to do and equipped us to do it. We need to do a better job obeying.
