Day 171- (Update with photos) Thankful even when health is challenged

Hi! I hope you are all well! What have you all been doing to keep busy these days?

I thought I’d give just a quick update from my end in case you were wondering.

  • Friday, Apr. 17, mix-up on my daughter’s meds; wrong quantity. Called doctor’s office and left a message.
  • Saturday, the 18th, plowed the garden.
  • Sunday, Apr. 19, took my daughter to mow grandma’s lawn (empty house).
  • Monday the 20th, doctor’s office called back with apology for the mix-up, and we decided to make a virtual appointment for the beginning of May.
  • Tues. Grocery shopping at 2 stores.
  • Wednesday more grocery shopping because we’re going through the food way too fast.
  • Wednesday afternoon, trip to a local nursery for veggies to plant before the rain starts.
  • Also Wednesday, planted spinach, arugula, romaine, and bok choy before rain started.
  • Thursday morning, I went to the chiropractor. Gentle, misty rain all day. This is great for the new plantings!
  • Thursday night, headache but no fever. Took ibuprofen and went to bed. My daughter had a low-grade fever.
  • Friday morning woke up early with a tickle in my throat which caused coughing. Slept the rest of the night in the recliner. Coughing stopped. Still no fever.
  • Friday totally exhausted. Had to force myself to get up to eat and hydrate around 2:30 pm, then back to the recliner.
  • Saturday felt a little better in the morning but ran out of energy before the day was over. My daughter had a horrible migraine that her meds weren’t touching. I rubbed some corn mint oil (Goodbye Headache from Herbaria) on her forehead and the back of her neck, and by bedtime she felt better. I rubbed another oil called “throbbin’ noggin” in the same spots at bedtime.
  • Sunday morning, Apr. 26, up for Facebook live church service. My daughter is feeling better, happy that she lost weight while she was sick, πŸ˜‚ and drawing a digital pic on her phone. I’m still tired, but got out in the sunshine and took these pics of the garden for you. The sunshine felt good.
The strawberries have blossoms.
More strawberries plus wild strawberries and mint.
Oregano on the left plus more strawberries.
Asparagus that I picked after taking the photo.
Bok choy.
Romaine, arugula, and spinach.
Garlic, I think. I planted it 2 years ago and keep forgetting to dig it up. This is the year! 😁

I’ve had to struggle a little harder to be thankful with not feeling well and have had some moments of feeling blue, but there is still so much for which to be thankful!

Today I’m thankful that I bought lots of groceries to last a little longer!

I’m thankful to have gotten started on the garden and for the perfect kind and amount of rain at the perfect time!

I’m thankful for green!

I’m thankful for friendly phone chats with the doctor’s office and the mychart setup office.

I’m thankful not to have a fever and that my daughter is feeling better!

I’m thankful for the internet, for our virtual church services, and that I can chat and check in with you all on WordPress!

I’m especially thankful for any of you who read all the way to this point! (*Blowing virtual kisses and sending virtual hugs your way. πŸ˜˜πŸ€—)

What about you? Have you been well or not so well? Are you well supplied with groceries and other necessities? Have you been feeling blue or overwhelmed? If so, how are you overcoming?

Yes, may He have mercy and do away with this illness by His Almighty power!
Thank you, dear! I’ve actually never grown bok choy before. I just bought this one pot and planted it on Wednesday. I sprinkled a little organic fertilizer and let the Lord water it for me with His beautiful gift of rain!

  1. I’m happy to hear that you and your daughter are doing well and I’m thankful that you shared those beautiful ‘green’ photos.

Lately, we’re also going through the food a little too fast, but we’ve been experimenting a lot in the kitchen and I’m also thankful for this.

May God continue to bless you. πŸ’™

  2. Ahhhh I love your garden so refreshing!! And sorry you guys were feeling under the weather…I’m wondering how many people end up with a fever or coughs and think β€œis this the coronavirus?!!”
    Take care and stay healthy!!

    1. Thanks! I didn’t realize until after I posted that I must have bumped the filter from Bright to Pure on my phone camera. It didn’t change the color, but I think it boosted the saturation. It did not add green because it also boosted saturation on my red, white, and blue plaid pajama pants when I tested it.
Yes, I read where a lot of people are having that line of thought. People with seasonal allergies are anxious, wondering if it’s COVID-19. But then another lady with seasonal allergies tried to blow it off, but she really did have COVID-19. I’ve taken my temperature more in the last couple of weeks than I have in years. If nothing else, it’s let me know that my body temperature is all over the place. I don’t seem to have a normal temperature.
Thanks! Please pray for me to get my energy back. I’m still dragging.

      1. Well the photos on your post to look great no matter what!
My body temperature must always be on the low side because I feel like I’m always cold, I will be praying that you get to feeling better very quickly and regain your energy!

            1. Oh wow…πŸ™„ Guess they were busy. At least we have Google nowadays to be able to look stuff up. Was your son taking Tylenol or ibuprofen? Mine goes down like that for no apparent reason. Once I went to the doctor and was told to drink before the visit, so I was drinking something ice cold. When the tech took my temperature, he was freaking out because it was 95.something. πŸ˜‚ He said he’d never seen a temp so low!

  3. WOW you’ve been busy. No wonder you’re exhausted. Rest up!! I hope you both feel better soon. πŸ™‚ Glad that fever and the headaches didn’t stick around!

Love the photos! Strawberries! I just bought some more the last time we went to town. I saw a DIY to turn a laundry basket into a strawberry planter and almost had enough to do it from the strawberries we already had, but needed a few more. We already have a few red ones!

Wild strawberries?! What are those like?

I’m also trying lettuce this year. I dunno what I’m doing. πŸ˜‚
