I had never thought about how not everyone perceives that they are loved in the same ways until I heard about a book called “The 5 Love Languages”, by Gary Chapman. It was very interesting to realize that one person may be doing their best to show love to another, but the other doesn’t perceive it because they speak a different love language.
My major love language is physical touch, with a second love language being words of affirmation.
You can imagine that this social distancing thing has been hard for me and for others like me who have physical touch as their major love language.
Bumping elbows only goes so far. (By the way, I found it very humorous when I found that people were bumping elbows as a part of not spreading germs, when we are told to cough into our elbows… LOL… just a thought). 😂
Anyway, just as with anything else, we can so easily take for granted hugs, a kiss, a pat on the back. So often we forget to be thankful for what we have until we no longer have it.
So, today I’m thankful for hugs and kisses and gentle touches. I’m thankful for pats on the back and even elbow bumping! 😁
What about you? What love language do you understand best? Physical touch? Words of affirmation? Spending quality time? Gifts? Or Acts of service? Do you know your family members’ love languages? How do they understand love? How can you show them love today?
Awwww that’s nice!
Coughing in the elbow… ouch! That is so true!
Our family is crazy about the 5 Love Languages!
Mine have changed sooooooooo much over the past year. NOW my top 2 are quality time and physical touch.

Thanks!
I know, right?
I never read the two books on children and teens. What were yours before this last year’s change, if you don’t mind me asking?

You’re welcome!
YES!!!
It’s awesome.
Lol so before, I DID NOT LIKE physical touch!!! I was VERY weird. I actually hated it. So that was the huge change, but my 2 before were gifts and words of affirmation. I really changed. But I so LOVE physical touch now! 😉 ❤

Thanks so much for sharing the information contained in this book.
It helps people to understand how people express love differently.
I enjoy physical affection, and giving gifts.
My husband expresses love through acts of service.
This morning, he made delicious blueberry pancakes. 🤗🌷

Lol ‘Bumping elbows and yet people cough into their elbows’ that is funny, I love that you observed that!!
I don’t love physical touch as a love language but I try to be mindful of the fact that some of my family members have that as a love language and so I need to embrace it with their best interest in mind❤️

Lol, yes it is! 😄
That’s wonderful that you are able to discern the love languages/needs of others and respond accordingly, yes, even embrace them! 💖😊

Yup and it’s so necessary to be accepting of other love languages and then of course giving with our own love language!!

Let me send you virtual hugs 🤗🤗🤗🤗
It’s so like Abba to remind me that I took up this book from my shelf on Sunday to read this week. A friend asked me what my love languages were and I asked if it was in giving or receiving for I give and receive love quite differently (go figure). As for how I receive love, it would be quality time, words of affirmation and then physical touch (in that order).

I receive the hugs with thanks! I’d send you some quality time if I could! 😁 I can understand why you would give and receive love differently since quality time is your major love language, and there’s only so much time to go around. It’s good that you understand the love languages of others so you can speak to them in their language. I hope you have some people around you that spend the quality time with you that you need to know that you are loved. Because you are loved! Fortunately, Abba spends all the time with you that you need! He loves you mostest bestest! 😃

My husband is acts of services, mine is touch and words of affirmation. He is a very quiet man and loves to be served; I am a servant. So he is a very blessed man!! LOL! I laughed out loud about the coughing in the elbow and then elbow bumping. We haven’t done any close physical contact except with each other here in the house. My husband is concerned because of our age we are too much at risk for getting the virus, so for now he is steadfast that we stay home. Strange days. I look forward to the days this mess settles down some so we can visit family.

Sounds like your husband has it good! 😀 Yes, it’s good to be able to laugh even when things aren’t going as well as we would like.
Yes, I miss family, too. Hopefully this will be over soon. Take care! 🙂
