Day 234- Thankful for sight, prayers, and healing

Late last night, just before I went to bed, I started having a flashing light and my left eye. I’m concerned that it might be a detached retina or a retinal tear, so this morning I’ve called the doctor and left a message to see what I should do.

As I wait for the call back, I look out the window and see so many blessings that God has given me. I’m thankful I can still see the weeping willow tree dancing in the breeze. I’m thankful I can still see the green grass and leaves on the trees. I’m thankful I can still see the birds feeding at the bird feeder. I’m thankful I can still see to get around the house. I’m thankful I can still see to do the things needed to serve myself and my family. I’m thankful I can still see to read my Bible and to blog and communicate with you, my online friends.

I would appreciate any and all prayers for my eyesight.

Today I am thankful for a lifetime of sight.

I’m thankful that God is our healer, and that whether He chooses to heal in this life or in eternity, He is always with me and never leaves my side.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. Praying that everything will be ok with your eyes today! I know there are times I take my eyesight for granted, even though my eyes are not 20/20 anymore. Today, we will thank God for all the lovely beauty He has painted in the landscapes and in nature. 🙏🏼

  2. I am joining you in praying for your eyesight today, dear Ruth! May the Lord go before you now, and keep your vision full and fixed on His beauty!! And may we all thank Him for the precious gift of sight. Love you dear friend!

  3. I experience flashing “auras” as you describe, diagnosed as ocular migraines. My parents had episodes, too. Thank goodness not followed by headache but likely triggered by stress. Praying for you, your doctor, and full recovery.

    1. Thank you so much, Carole!
Yes, I’ve had those a couple of times. This was different.
My doctor sent an urgent referral to an eye specialist, and I went to an appointment there today. The good news is that there are no holes or tears in the retina at this time. I don’t have to go back unless it gets worse.

  4. I’m thankful that I have been healthy even without my immunotherapy shots every month. I’m thankful that my foot is getting better. And I’m thankful for a husband who has kept me company since March.

      1. Praise the Lord, and don’t be slow to return if it acts up. My husband had a retina tear some years back, and the things we learned. We had gone to visit family in CO and learned (after the fact) high altitudes make a bad situation worse, and boy did it ever for him. So, while you are in this time of healing stay in lower altitudes if possible. We also learned when you do have the flashing don’t try to ‘follow’ it with your eye. If you have any more odd symptoms don’t wait but go see a retina specialist or an ophthalmologist at the very least. Time is of the essence when it comes to the eye. So thankful for you that all is well!

        1. Thank you so much for your caring advice and for sharing the things you learned, Cecilia. I had no idea that altitude would make a difference.
At this time I have pre macular degeneration and I’m supposed to start taking a certain supplement. I also have a little bit of cataracts. Apparently a large floater or possibly multiple floaters were breaking away. I haven’t had any flashing today, so hopefully things are being resolved.

  5. I’ve experienced the flashes you describe. Mine turned out to be a large floater, but did not lead to a detached retina. This definitely should be checked out by an ophthalmologist, but is not an uncommon thing for people (middle aged and up). My eye stabilized and the flashes stopped, and I will pray yours will too.
