Day 237- Thankful for road crews that do their job well

Back in February I mentioned a certain road that I have driven on for years. It has enough of a hill that road crews have to use a lot of ice melt on it during the winter. This causes a lot of potholes by the time spring rolls around, and it is quite a challenge to dodge them all.

Even after road crews come and fill in the holes, it is still a bumpy ride, and I have a tendency to continue to dodge the bumps as much as possible.

Recently road crews cut out chunks of cement and poured new, fresh cement. I thought that this was all they were going to do. Some workers did the same thing a few years ago, but the seams between the sections of cement became the places for the new potholes to begin to form.

For a few days or so I traveled a different route because of the construction, and when I finally went back to driving that way, I was THRILLED by the smooth ride! The road crews did much more than I had expected; they laid a thick blanket of asphalt over the cement, covering any holes, bumps, and cracks that may have still been there. They did such an amazing job, I almost felt like I was getting to drive at some new ride at an amusement park!! And did I mention it was SO SMOOTH?! Hallelujah!

We are so blessed to have these smooth roads.

I’m so thankful for road crews that do their job well!

I’m thankful for the smooth roads.

I’m thankful for the quiet peacefulness of traveling on that section of the road now.

I’m thankful that I no longer have to dodge bumps or potholes.

I praise God that there are still people who are motivated to do excellent work!

We are running a race for the glory of God. May we always keep Him as our focus so that we may run with endurance on the path that He will level for us.

In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”  Proverbs 3:6 AMP

What about you? Are you thankful for workers that do an excellent job? Don’t you love it when the Lord removes obstacles and smooths your path for you? Can you think of a specific time when that happened?

  1. When my first marriage failed, I was so ashamed. I thought this would never happen between two Christians.
I was hurting and disillusioned, but two years later I met a wonderful lady who is now my wife of 18 years.
Though God clearly hates divorce, I believe he smoothed the way for me to find love again. I picked the first one, but He picked the second!

  2. I hope a lot of road workers see this post. I’m sure they get their share of dirty looks from motorists who are annoyed with being slowed down – while the roads are being improved for THEM.
I feel the same gratitude for the workers who come out in the middle of the night to repair the power lines during an outage. They’re out working in the rain and wind and cold and lightning so we can wake up with the power back on in the morning. ❤️
