Every October for close to three decades I’ve experienced at least a day or two of depression. This year I’ve already had a few brief run-ins with it, and we’re only halfway through the month.
I apologize for not making much of an appearance on your blogs, but I just needed to work through some things.
Weariness hit several days this week, but by God’s grace, I was able to push through and get quite a bit of gardening done, as well as some paperwork before brain fog hit.
The dog was sick, but after a few days, she started acting like she feels fine again.
My dad was taken to the hospital and then to rehab, and he is not cooperating with the physical therapists, and that is still not resolved, but good things are coming even out of this. My siblings and I have had to consult together, which is a good thing since we haven’t been able to get together for quite some time.
The Lord is bringing up to the surface some hurts that still need to be healed so I can surrender them to Him and be free. Hurts are no fun, but casting them on the Lord and having loving people pray for us is a very good thing.
I pray for my dad to get right with God. That is his greatest need right now, for only God can give him the peace that he needs in his present circumstances.
Yesterday I wanted to go for a walk with my daughter, and she felt like she couldn’t walk very far, so we drove to a nearby cemetery that has a little pond and walked around the pond. I also got a picture of some beautiful mums they had planted.
Last night my dear blogging sister from Nigeria called me, and she encouraged me so much just listening and praying with me. Then this morning I called another blogging friend, and she cheered me up too! Thanks so much, Ifeoma and Alicia!
Today I’m thankful for the strength and stamina to get some things done even with weariness and brain fog.
I’m thankful for God’s guidance in which things I should tackle and when.
I’m thankful that the dog is feeling better.
I’m thankful for a good discussion with my siblings on Zoom.
I’m thankful that God is able to get my dad’s attention and draw him to Himself.
I’m thankful for freedom and healing and joy that happen when we let go of our hurts and focus on good things.
I’m thankful for time I can spend with my daughter.
I’m thankful for beautiful flowers that somebody else planted. 😁
And, I’m thankful for my Christian sisters caring and taking the time to encourage me and cheer me up.
What about you? Does any of this resonate with you? What are you thankful for today?
Ahhhh look at that list of things of thankfulness!!! (And despite your feeling down!) so beautiful!!
I’ll be praying for you sweet friend!! Cling to Him and His word!! I know you will.😉

One of the greatest blessings that God can give us is the blessing of a thankful heart.
It takes spiritual maturity to see the Father’s many blessings to us, even when we know that life’s difficulties are inevitable for all of us.
Blessings to you, and thanks for sharing. 🤗🌷

When I think of relationships is when I have the greatest heartaches. Like your father getting right with God. My two sons are not speaking to one another – even though they are physically close to one another. My prayer is that they would come together before I die and they wouldn’t both in the same room for my funeral. But I trust as God is with me every day, He is with them also. I pray that as they attend/listen to church services each week they will be convicted. There’s nothing more I can do but pray – and praying more is always a blessing.

Yes, relationships can be so complicated because every person has sin, and sometimes that rubs people closest to us the wrong way. Repentance and forgiveness are so necessary for love and unity to flourish. I pray your sons will find it in themselves to do that in whatever way that applies to them concerning whatever has happened between them. May the Lord bring them close to Himself and help them to be strong in the Lord, to walk according to His Spirit, surrendering their hurts to Him, and walking in agape love. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
