Hi! My name is Ruth! What’s your name?
I’m so pleased that you’ve dropped in for a visit! Welcome! I hope you’ll continue to come around and that we’ll get to know each other!
I am still in the process of becoming who I was meant to be. God has taught me a lot from life’s experiences, and He’s given me dreams for the future in which I will not be exactly then who I am now.
I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. My youngest child is now in her 3rd year of college. My dad passed away in November of 2020, and my mom went to be with Jesus about a year ago.
My hobbies include blogging, Bible study, playing piano, singing, and gardening/ landscaping. I love the mountains and the beach, waterfalls, and wooded hiking trails. (I’ll share some of the photos I’ve taken, like the two below.) And I love spending time with my beloved family and friends.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Language and have taught Spanish, even though I’m actually more fluent in French. I love both languages! Whenever I hear someone speaking another language, my ears perk up, even if they are strangers! I loved living overseas, including over 2 1/2 years in Europe, close to 6 months in Asia, and 3 years in Africa! It’s like parts of those cultures became a part of me, and I am still connected.
My greatest love relationship is with God through Jesus Christ, and I hope to share His love and peace with you! My relationship with God permeates every part of my life. The only part of my relationship that I would change would be to grow closer to Him and to love Him more and more!
Perhaps you immediately think that I’m talking about religion here, but that’s not it at all! Rather, I’d love to introduce you to my Best Friend, Jesus Christ and help you see how wonderful it is to be secure in the Arms of Someone who is always faithful, loving, and kind! I’ve had plenty of people in my life who are not, and I find great peace and security in the loving arms of God!
I like to write about God’s grace, love, and mercy because, by it, I’ve survived the darkness of abuse, grief, betrayal, pain, and heartbreak.
I, like you, have asked my questions and wondered “why?” and “how long?” And, I’ve experienced plenty and lack of plenty and the hardships of raising children alone.
But I’ve also seen God step in and do the miraculous!
1 Samuel 12:24 says,
“consider what great things He has done for you.”
He has given me numerous great things to consider!
- He said He would never leave me nor forsake me, and
- He never has!
- He has been close beside me no matter how much difficulty I’ve faced, and
- He wants to do the same for you!
I hope to encourage you in your life journey and help you find hope for better days by sharing what I’ve learned through various experiences of my life!

Dear Ruth, I just responded to your comment on “Beyond the Nook” regarding the care of your parents. Just in case you do not get the response, I would like to post it here:
Dearest Ruth, God has given each and every word for this post and the others. I pray over them that they will be of benefit to those who are caring for others. Ruth, I am so pleased to get to know you a little more. I know it was a long time ago {through the post above I followed}, but I’m really sorry that you went through that pain of a broken marriage. I am a child of a broken marriage, and it’s painful for all the people. I am so thankful God has done so much in your life. Keep ministering to us all through your Christ-centred words!

If you don’t mind me asking: What was it about my blog that made you want to follow? Either way, I’m glad that God is using this blog to reach people around the world.

It’s great to “meet” you, too, God’s Warrior! To answer your question, I followed your blog because your title indicates full surrender to God and because you write from a discipleship aspect. I think this is necessary in the “water-it-down” culture in which many of us live today. Also, I think it’s important to be connected, because the Holy Spirit can use our writing to help us learn from each other. And, for this reason, I invite you to follow my blog, as well. Blessings! Grace and peace to you. 🙂

As you said Ruth. My blog is about total surrender to God. That is what I want my life to be based on. Although right now, it’s still My Way vs God’s Way, I want to through this fast, continous prayer, and reading His Word give total surrender to God.

I pray in Jesus’ name that you will succeed in daily following God in total surrender and that He will deliver you from the evil one each day and give you victory over the flesh. Fasting will help. You may need to do it often, but that is okay, as long as you find a closer walk with Jesus through it. Our way is nothing but trouble compared to God’s Way. Continue to follow Him, dear brother.

As I read Day 20 moments ago, my heart fell upon these words offered in James..
“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him… James 5:14-16
We are praying that the Lord’s healing virtue would flow through baby girl, and that He’d dismantle, destroy, and dispel the conglomerate of symptoms that are pervading her body, and restore unto her pristine health, in Jesus name!
