Day 69 – Thankful for sunshine on a cold day and God’s love in hard times (photos)

If you read my post on Tuesday, you know that our region got enough snow for another snow day. Actually, the schools in our region had two snow days this week!

Anyway, I love the snow! It is so beautiful, and each flake is an amazing work of art!

But unfortunately, I’m not a fan of being cold. Sigh. So, aside from dressing warm to take the photos for Tuesday’s post, I was staying inside, trying to keep warm.

Yesterday afternoon, I was feeling kind of out of sorts, so I prayed and asked God what I should do.

The message came quite clearly to my mind. “Go out and shovel snow.”

Okay, Lord!

I donned my warm layers and coat, grabbed the shovel and began at the end of the driveway that I knew my husband would need cleared to get back in when he came home from work.

Fortunately, a neighbor came and helped me get done faster.

Today, the sun was shining brightly, and I got out and shoveled the other end of the driveway so we could come or go from either end.

Later on, I decided to take a few photos while the sun was still shining.

I actually drove somewhere to take this photo. I love horses, but I don’t have one.
I did NOT make a fire in the chiminea today! 😁
Melting snow made this amazing lace-like pattern! Zoom in and take a closer look!
Doggie footprints as Lilly dashes and leaps and decides to come back out when it’s not so cold!

There’s something so joyous about being able to let the light of the sun enter into the soul via the eyes when it’s been cold and gray for a while!

Yes, it warms the air and begins the process of melting snow off of roads, parking lots, sidewalks, and driveways.

But something about it warms the heart as well!

There’s something so encouraging about the fact that, even though the clouds hide the sun for a while, and the cold winds prevail, the sun is still there! It doesn’t go away! We can count on it!

This reminds me of how God is the light. He is always there, even though hard times may obstruct our ability to perceive Him. Even though the winds of adversity blow and chill our souls, He is still there! When we wake up one day and perceive the warmth of the sunshine of His love, we can be assured that He was there all along! We can count on Him!

And that is what I’m thankful for today!

What about you? Do you enjoy the sun? Are you thankful that it stays right there and always comes back out? Are you thankful that God is faithful never to leave or forsake you, even though you don’t always perceive His presence?

    1. Hi, Lea! Thank you! It’s something I believe God told me to do, so with His help I press on! Yes, we often become so habituated to what we have been blessed with that we forget to be thankful. This exercise is helping me, and hopefully those who are following, to dig a little deeper and to recognize the gifts God gives us every day, even when everything is not as we would have preferred it. 🙌😊
