Day 209- Thankful for fun with my son

Today my son and I dropped off a few donations at a local thrift store and went in to look for a few things. We didn’t end up buying anything, so we decided that while we were out, we would spend a little time together having fun.

Of course, what having fun looks like this year is very different from other years.

We went to our local “healthier” food store and got personal pizzas (mine was gluten-free), personal-size cheese cakes (I can’t remember when I last had one–maybe 14 years? They had gluten-free cheesecakes, too!!), and a healthful drink. Then we went to a nearby park and spread a tablecloth over a picnic table and enjoyed our special lunch together.

It was a beautiful day for July; a table in the shade was just the right temperature.

I’ve been thinking about how he’ll be going back to college soon, and how I’ll miss him. So, I want to spend the remaining time with him in a way that makes good memories.  We both enjoyed our time together today, so chalk one up for today’s good memory!  God be praised, for He is good!!

Today I’m thankful for the extra time I’ve been able to spend with my son, in spite of the difficult circumstances that caused it to happen.

I’m thankful for this beautiful day, for tablecloths, for picnic tables, and for parks being open.

I’m also thankful for the delicious gluten-free treats of pizza that I seldom get to enjoy and for the gluten-free cheesecake that was such a special treat!

What about  you?  If you knew that you only had a short time left with the person/people you love, would you do anything differently?  If so, what would you change?
